G'day! I'm Alex

Counsellor and Founder

I founded Renew Mental Health because I believe deeply that renewal begins when we have the space to process, reflect and work through the narratives that we have internalised in order to understand more about ourselves, others, and the world.

I’m especially passionate about supporting people through depression and anxiety, ADHD, untangling relationship dynamics, and helping parents navigate the challenges of raising children in the digital age. My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, which means I’ll always meet you with empathy, curiosity, and respect for your story.

In individual counselling, I gently guide my clients to explore patterns, beliefs, and past experiences that might be keeping them stuck, while supporting them to reconnect with their values and strengths through drawing from the principles of narrative therapy and solutions-focused brief therapy.

In couples work, I help partners rebuild emotional safety and strengthen communication so they can truly hear—and be heard by—each other. I draw primarily on the work of John and Julie Gottman, and integrate

In session, you can expect a warm and collaborative atmosphere. I’ll listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and offer practical insights or tools when helpful. Whether you’re coming in with something specific or not quite sure where to start, we’ll move at your pace and work together to make sense of what’s going on.

Sometimes we only need a few sessions before you start to see progress; sometimes we need a few more. But by the end of our first session together, we will have a solid roadmap for how to move forward together. It is a privilege and an honour to walk with you on your journey, so please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Hello! I'm Audrey

Counsellor

Before pursuing counselling, I was a high school teacher for 8 years. In that time, I quickly developed a heart for meaningful conversations with young people about life outside the classroom. This sense of calling was strong enough for me to switch careers and create more safe spaces for such conversations that are much needed.

The counselling models I primarily work with are Narrative Therapy which helps us deconstruct your stories and elicits your values, and Solution-Focused Therapy which enables us to learn about your hopes and goals. Beyond that, I also work with Systemic and Humanistic perspectives. This expands reflections of the significant systems around you, deepening meaning and awareness of these relationships. Ultimately, my work is client-led, tailored to your unique needs.

In sessions, you can expect me to be a warm, friendly presence, ready to make our time together as comfortable and safe as possible. Two values drive my work: relationship and curiousity. These will always be in the room as we work together in your journey to discovery and healing.

While my background speaks into working with adolescents, I work with individuals of all ages through various problems like anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and lost, struggles with socialising or peer pressure, family discord, or work challenges. I also work with families going through difficulties with divorce, displacement, and other causes of tension.

I very much look forward to hearing your stories, your values, your hopes through this therapeutic process – a meaningful step towards a better understanding of yourself!
